Fossas are neat. They are like giant mongooses, and probably our best illustration of what the very early felids looked and behaved like. I discovered recently that I did not know how to draw them from memory (oh, I tried, but they turned out too dog-like or cat-like; most artists have gone through this annoyance). So I figured a portrait would make a terrific study, and also make good use of the ability to use dozens of layers in Photoshop Elements (and use them, I did!).
